Dear DATIA Member
11/13/2017
If you are a current member of DATIA, this is a very important message.
As a member of the DATIA Board of Directors and Past Chairman, I am very concerned about an e-mail notice you may have received today about a membership vote and a special membership meeting dated for Friday, November 24, 2017 at 9 AM; the morning after the Thanksgiving Holiday.
This e-mail notice contains serious allegations against unknown board members. How can we ask members to vote on the issue before the meeting occurs? How can we accuse and remove board members without any opportunity for them to respond or correct any allegations against them?
This meeting and vote has been called without the DATIA Board approval. The meeting and vote and the issues discussed are a retaliation attempt against our Board’s unanimous decision in a May 2017 vote to request a performance review and additional long term discussions with WPA our management company.
The WPA President Jeff Smith and Laura Shelton our executive director have orchestrated an attempt to show the current board of directors that they (Smith and Shelton) control the association rather than proper governance by the DATIA Board of Directors.
These retaliation efforts will expose DATIA to tremendous liability.
I urge you to contact DATIA and protest a meeting to be held Friday, November 24, 2017 at 9 AM; the morning after the Thanksgiving Holiday.
I also urge you if you are going to vote electronically on this issue to vote:
X I vote to leave the current Board in place for the remainder of the 2017-2018 term.
Please feel free to call me if you have questions and I urge you to stand up for DATIA.
Thank you,
Joe Reilly
